The Dinghai Wushan Eco-Tourism Corridor (Wushan Park Greenway) in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, is a landmark urban renewal project that integrates ecological conservation, cultural tourism, slow mobility, and smart city technologies into a modern green corridor.
Working closely with the project contractor Beijing Furuncheng, Samsung Lighting delivered a customized smart landscape lighting solution featuring four original landscape garden light designs: “Glorious Years,” “Future Journey,” “Ode to Dinghai,” and “Vibrant Growth.” Together, these intelligent lighting systems help create a sustainable public space that combines cultural identity, environmental harmony, and digital management.
Lighting Inspired by Local Culture
Samsung Lighting’s original industrial design team carefully studied the project’s vision while exploring Zhoushan’s unique history, maritime culture, geographical advantages, and urban development. By combining local cultural elements with contemporary design language, each luminaire becomes more than a lighting fixture—it becomes an expression of the city’s identity.
Glorious Years
Inspired by Dinghai’s important role in modern Chinese history, including the Opium War and the Zhoushan Campaign, this luminaire symbolizes resilience, courage, and national spirit.
Its lantern head adopts a national flag red color scheme, while the torch-inspired crown represents the enduring flame of courage and the continuous passing of cultural heritage from generation to generation.
Future Journey
Located near the mouths of both the Yangtze River and the Qiantang River, Zhoushan benefits from its strategic position within the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone.
Reflecting the city’s openness and forward-looking development, this luminaire features a contemporary design with elegant neutral tones and clean architectural lines, creating a modern appearance that conveys innovation and future-oriented urban development.
Ode to Dinghai
Inspired by Dinghai Ancient City and the historic Scholar’s Trail, this luminaire incorporates traditional architectural forms into a contemporary lighting design.
The Chinese character “定” (Ding) is subtly integrated into the structure, symbolizing peace and stability while reinforcing Dinghai’s distinctive cultural identity and historical significance.
Vibrant Growth
Designed using biomimetic principles inspired by the graceful growth of orchid flowers, this luminaire embodies vitality, health, and sustainable living.
Its dynamic form complements the ecological greenway and fitness trails, helping create a healthy outdoor environment where nature, recreation, and lighting coexist harmoniously.
Design Details That Celebrate Local Identity
Every lighting fixture incorporates subtle cultural details unique to Zhoushan, including references to the historic Zhuangyuan Bridge, local maritime landscapes, mountain-and-sea geography, and butterfly-inspired artistic motifs.
These carefully crafted details allow the lighting system to blend naturally into the surrounding environment while strengthening the city’s visual identity and enriching the visitor experience.

Stretching approximately 21 kilometers, the Wushan Eco-Tourism Corridor is equipped with 588 Smart Lighting Poles, forming one of the region’s most advanced intelligent park management systems.

Beyond improving management efficiency, the intelligent terminals also enhance visitor services.
Wireless charging stations help visitors recharge mobile devices during emergencies, while emergency call systems and surveillance equipment improve public safety. Network audio systems can broadcast public information, safety announcements, emergency notifications, and background music, creating a safer and more enjoyable park environment.
