Lighting Green Spaces, Inspiring Slow Mobility | Shenzhen Lixiang Park Urban Slow Mobility System

As the sun sets over Shenzhen, the city’s green spaces are gently transformed by carefully designed lighting. Soft illumination enhances the natural landscape, creating an inviting nighttime environment where people can slow down, relax, and reconnect with nature.

Located in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, Lixiang Park is one of the city’s signature urban parks and an important part of its urban slow mobility system. Designed to encourage walking, jogging, and cycling, the park offers residents a peaceful escape from the fast pace of city life, while thoughtfully designed lighting creates a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere after dark.

Creating Better Public Spaces Through Smart Lighting

Urban slow mobility systems are designed to improve the balance between pedestrian, cycling, and vehicular traffic while enhancing the quality of public spaces. Built on the principles of safety, continuity, accessibility, and comfort, these systems integrate transportation with landscape design and local cultural identity.

As an essential component of the slow mobility network, lighting does far more than provide nighttime visibility. It improves safety, enhances the user experience, and helps create high-quality public spaces that encourage healthier and more sustainable urban lifestyles.

Inspired by Nature, Designed for Comfort

Blending contemporary design with natural beauty, Samsung Lighting’s “Shenglian” (Blooming Lotus) Landscape Garden Light has become a distinctive feature throughout Lixiang Park.

Inspired by the graceful form of a lotus flower, the luminaire features elegant biomimetic styling with clean, modern lines that express the harmony of Eastern aesthetics. Positioned among lush greenery, it serves as both a functional lighting fixture and an architectural landscape element, adding character and visual interest to the park.

The fixture combines a soft opal auxiliary diffuser with a high-efficiency LED primary light source, delivering warm, comfortable illumination along pedestrian pathways. The result is a peaceful lighting environment where every walk, jog, bike ride, or evening commute becomes a relaxing experience immersed in nature.

Whether enjoying a leisurely stroll, exercising after work, or simply passing through the park, visitors are invited to slow down and appreciate the beauty of their surroundings.

Following a gentle rain, the scent of fresh grass fills the air as the city’s bustle gradually fades into the evening. Along the park’s pathways, Samsung Lighting’s lawn lights become subtle guiding beacons, casting a warm glow across the stone walkways and creating an inviting atmosphere for every visitor.

Engineered with a carefully controlled downward lighting distribution, the fixtures beautifully illuminate surrounding lawns while minimizing glare. This refined optical design creates the effect of “seeing the light, not the fixture,” enhancing the park’s natural beauty without disrupting the visual comfort of pedestrians.

The result is an elegant nighttime landscape that balances functionality, aesthetics, and environmental harmony.

A More Livable City Through Thoughtful Lighting

Working closely with our project partners, Samsung Lighting helped deliver a lighting solution that fully meets the vision of Shenzhen’s urban slow mobility system. Lixiang Park has become a destination where light and nature coexist in perfect harmony, providing residents with a healthier, safer, and more enjoyable outdoor environment.

More than simply illuminating pathways, the project creates spaces where people can slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the city from a new perspective. It demonstrates how thoughtful lighting design can enhance urban life while supporting sustainable, people-centered city development.

At Samsung Lighting, we remain committed to advancing innovation in smart lighting technologies, sustainable design, and energy-efficient solutions. Through continuous product development and integrated urban lighting systems, we will continue contributing to healthier, greener, and more livable cities around the world.
