As the flagship lighting solution for this landmark urban renewal project, Samsung Lighting’s New Chinese Lanterns now illuminate the avenue, combining advanced lighting technology with cultural heritage to redefine the city’s nighttime landscape.

Yingze Avenue takes its name from Yingze Gate, the historic southern gate of the ancient city of Taiyuan and one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Over the years, the name “Yingze” has become deeply rooted in the city’s identity, appearing in well-known locations such as Yingze District, Yingze Park, Yingze Lake, and Yingze Hotel.
For many local residents, Yingze Avenue is more than a major transportation corridor—it represents an important chapter in the city’s history and serves as a symbol of Taiyuan’s cultural heritage and urban development.

Samsung Lighting supplied the New Chinese Lanterns specifically designed for this prestigious project.
Compared with the previous high-pressure sodium street lighting system, the new luminaires feature high-efficiency LED light sources, delivering significant improvements in energy efficiency, maintenance costs, and service life.
To meet the unique requirements of Yingze Avenue, Samsung Lighting developed a customized optical system that positions the primary LED light source beneath the decorative lantern housing. This innovative configuration provides excellent roadway illumination while simultaneously enhancing the surrounding urban landscape.
The optimized optical design effectively reduces glare, creating a healthier, safer, and more comfortable nighttime environment for both pedestrians and motorists.
The lantern covers are manufactured from high-quality imported PMMA, offering excellent resistance to aging, weathering, and UV exposure. This ensures long-term optical performance while preserving the elegant appearance expected of one of Taiyuan’s most important ceremonial boulevards.
